The Judgement of Paris - Toile

A toile wallpaper I drew a few years ago, I love love love toile and plan to get back into designing some wallpaper patterns. This one follows the story of Paris, who must give the golden apple to either Aphrodite, Hera or Athene. He chooses Aphrodite as she rewards him with Helen of Sparta...starting the Trojan war.

I have changed the header for my blog...hello birdies and snowdrops!

The Tortoise.
Silkscreen print of the tortoise from my picture book.

Bored??? Why not play snap! I created a pack of cards featuring 9 bored and fed up looking animals.

Fot part of a live D&AD project, I designed and screen printed brown paper bags to make simple gift bags.

All my silkscreen prints have been scanned in to display online, therefore some digital images do not do them justice as my scanner at home is too small!
For some reason I seem to enjoy drawing medical themed illustrations!

Peanut.
Silkscreen print.

Greg

Bonobo Chimps have been found to be one of the few animal species to demonstrate selfless acts of kindness. A chimp (no. 1) in a zoo was placed in a cage full of tasty food. In the cage next to him was another chimp (no. 2) with no food. The door between the two cages could only be opened by chimp no. 1. Before he even began to eat, he opened the door to allow the other chimp to share the food with him. The article I read this in drew a comparison to a human selfless act of kindness - giving blood.

When my mum lived in Cameroon, she had an African Grey parrot. He was moved from the busy living room into the quiet hallway where he became lonely and began to pluck out his own feathers...this lead to him being named Oven-Ready.
Silk screen printed Giraffe legs. These will be coming down to London with me...

Another piece for my folio. When humans and animals are depressed, it is because they are lacking in the chemical, serotonin. I decided to make a poster to sell it like a product.

Last semester i read up on Knut, the polar bear celebrity in Berlin Zoo. He was rejected by his mother at birth and raised by his keepers. Animal rights activists claimed he would be better off killed than being raised by humans...seems a bit messed up to me.

Poor Knut died last month, just four years old, he was suffering from swelling of the brain - nothing to do with the fact he was kept in a zoo. I thought he deserved a drawing.

Prozac Bears!

This is a Bi-Polar Bear.

Due to the stress and upset caused by being held in captivity, polar bears are often prescribed the anti-depressant, Prozac.
